STANFORD — Hulah D. Snow, 95, of Stanford, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Stanford.
Born Friday, April 16, 1915, in Bremen to the late T.J. and Ola W. Ashley, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a 50-year board member of Lincoln County Public Library. She was a dedicated member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church since 1956, serving as treasurer for more than 35 years.
She will be remembered for working for Stanford Water Works for 14 years and Stanford Wood Products for seven years. She was known for gardening and canning and for being a very good cook. She was a mentor to many women and only saw the good in people.
She leaves behind two sons, Jim Decker and his wife, Geri, of Lancaster, and Dale Decker and his wife, Ann, of Eagle, Colo.; two daughters-in-law, Terri Decker of Johnston, S.C., and Sherilyn Decker of Miami, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Shirley Van De Pitte and her husband, John, of Clinton Township, Mich.; a brother, Carl Ashley of Stockdale, Texas; a sister, Eunice Pence of Stanford; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Hulah was preceded in death by her first husband, W.J. Decker, and her second husband, Chester Snow; two sons, Terry and Bob Decker; and three brothers, James, Perry and Prentice Ashley.
A remembrance of life service will be 2 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeremy James officiating.
Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve Lucas, Jerome Flynn, Alfred Pence, John Stevens, Tom Komray and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Witt, Jack Potts, John Sheldon, Ottis Cave, Carl Ashley, Leslie Whitmer and the members of New Beginnings United Methodist Church.
Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army or the Lincoln County Public Library.
