Ruby A. Brotherton, 96, a longtime Longton resident, died Aug. 27, 2000, Elk Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Longton Cemetery with the Rev. Ted D. Davis officiating.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Inc. and the Longton Senior Center.
Brotherton Was born Sept. 8, 1903, at Longton, to Alphard Millard and Anna Adelia(Blair) Atkinson. She attended school at Weir and Arcadia before moving with her family to Goodman, Mo.
On Dec. 22, 1920, she married Tony Sam Brotherton at Pineville, Mo., and they lived in Missouri until moving to Longton in 1944.
The couple moved to Wichita in the 1950s, and she worked at Hawk's Drug Store. They returned to Longton in 1962, and she operated the senior center for many years.
Her husband died in 1970.
Brotherton attended the First Baptist Church of Longton.
Survivors include a son, Max Brotherton, and a sister, Treva Kramer, both of Longton, 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
