After moving to the Cincinnati area and marrying her husband of over 60 years (the late Paul Hines), Ruby began her biggest and most fulfilling role of all: "MOM". Her first child, a girl, Paula Hines, was the first baby of 1948 in Pulaski County, Ky. Baby Paula passed away of a blood disorder after just a few hours.
Ruby and Paul went on to have four other children, Sheila (Sissy), Deborah (Debbie), Rebecca (Becky) and Kevin Hines. While raising her four kids, Ruby worked a variety of full- and part-time jobs to support her family, eventually landing at the Gibson Greeting Card Company, where she would retire in the early 1990s.
Mrs. Hines was well known for her kind and gentle spirit, compassion for others in need, her love of animals and reading, and, most of all, her undying, selfless devotion to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Upon her passing, a running theme and portrait emerged of Ruby by those who loved and knew her best: a truly compassionate, kind, and extraordinarly sweet, genuine and SELF-LESS soul who always put others -- including total strangers -- above herself.
This author can verify every wonderful thing said about Ruby because to me she was simply "MOM". I, like so many others, love and miss her terribly but am so grateful to have been blessed with her in my life...
