Major League Baseball Player. Nicknamed "Jeep", he was an infielder making his debut for the Cincinnati Reds on April 15, 1936. For ten seasons, he played for the Cincinnati Reds in 1936, Pittsburgh Pirates (1937-41, 1944-46) and Philadelphia Phillies in 1947. Known as a flashy infielder and fast runner, he was the National League stolen base champion in 1939. He concluded his career with a record of 902 hits, 418 runs scored, 15 homeruns, 297 batted in and a .269 batting average.
