Retired Railroad Man Dies At Okolona At 69
Okolona, Miss., March 6 - Funeral services were held at his home Thursday morning for Rufus Edward Pullen, 69, retired railroad man, who died shortly after midnight Tuesday following an illness of several weeks. His death was due to a heart attack. The services were conducted by the Rev. R.B. Patterson of Memphis, former pastor of the Okolona Baptist Church and burial took place in Amory. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Pullen was reared in Monroe County, but had lived here for the past 20 years. Until three years ago when forced by ill health to retire, he was employed by the Mobile & Ohio Railroad.
He is survived by two daughters Miss Maggie Sue and Miss Mary Lou Pullen of Okolona; four brothers, R.A. Pullen, former mayor of Aberdeen, N.C. Pullen of Birmingham, Ala., Dr. Nathan G. Pullen and G.W. Pullen of Amory; four sisters, Mrs Maggie Fuqua of Columbus, Mrs. Willie Nash of Becker, Mrs. A.C. Cowart and Mrs. John Fitzpatrick of Amory.
