Ms. Chastain was born January 21, 1942 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Anne Viola (Deggs) and Foster McClure "Mack" Chastain, and died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in a local hospital. She had resided in Lufkin most of her life. Ms. Chastain received a Bachelors Degree in Library Science from Sam Houston State University. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and was currently attending Carpenter's Way Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Dwayne Thompson of New Caney and Sterling Thompson of the Czech Republic; daughter, Sheila Willmon of Huntington; grandchildren, Dalton Tompson of Huntington and Ashlee Pittman and husband Ryan of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Emmah Pittman, Reise Pittman and Daniel Ryan Pittman, Jr., all of Lufkin; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Charlie L. Brent, Jr. of Lufkin.
