Lewis was born on the 17th of November 1856 in Shelby county to Charles H. Lippincott and Mary Ann Fisher. He also had a twin sister, Sarah E. Lippincott. Lewis came from a large family. He had one older brother, Samuel that died during the Civil War in 1863. He had five older sisters, one of which, Anna died prematurely at 19 years of age in 1872. Lewis worked as a bookeeper and passed away on the 23rd of March 1910.
