Jane McGinnis was the first of William and Alta (Kelley) McGinnis' six daughters, and the only one born before their migration from Illinois to Missouri. She arrived in what was then Barry (now Jasper) County, Missouri with her parents when less than a year old, grew up, married, raised her family, and died in Jasper County.
She married Ben Oliver in 1855, and they had two children: one son, James William (Billy) Oliver (1858-1923) and one daughter, Alma Oliver (1878-81). Jane died in Sarcoxie in 1916, and was buried in the family section of the Fullerton Cemetery.
