Services are pending at Denton Funeral Home for Willis Lawrence Smith Sr., 78, 3212 W. Lea St., who died today in a local nursing home.
Smith was a member of Fox and Lake Church of Christ. He was a deacon of Hillcrest Baptist Church for several years, but later became a member of Fox and Lake Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Willis L. Smith Jr. of Carlsbad; one brother, Joe T. Smith of Hawley, Texas; two sisters, Nella May Taylor of Van Horn, Texas, and Mabe Hill of Nogales, Ariz.; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Willis Lawrence Smith Sr. will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilson Akins of Loco Hills Baptist Church and Gene Fooks of Lakeview Christian Home officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Roscoe Payne, Ray Miller, Sgt. Bill Holder, Dick Means, Mike Smith, and Tat Farrell.
