A stroke of paralysis caused the death of John Shoemaker, which occurred yesterday at the family residence four miles southwest of Dayton. He was born in this county October 30 1839, and his entire life was spent in farming. He was a man of sterling character, was industrious and was quite successful. Mr. Shoemaker was a member of the United Brethren church and Stockwell Lodge No. 439, IOOF. He leaves the following children: Prime Shoemaker, of Montgomery county; Mrs. Fannie Lucas, of Hoopeston, Ill; Mrs. Lucy Roberts and Mrs. Ella Lucas, of South Raub, and William and Reuben Shoemaker, of this county. The funeral will be held from the Monroe church, tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. George Trinkle, of Clark's Hill, will officiate and the burial will be in the Monroe cemetery and will be under the auspices of the Odd Fellows
