Carlos "K" Gentle
Mountain Home

Carlos Kenneth Gentle, 59, of Mountain Home, died Thursday, March 25, 1993 in a Mountain Home hospital following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, at McMurtrey Chapel, Mountain Home. Pastor Mae Sanders will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain Home, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #26. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral homes, McMurtrey Chapel, Mountain Home.

Carlos was born March 31, 1933, at Gunner, Texas, a son of W.A. and Myrtle Hix Gentle. He was raised and attended schools in Salina, Texas, where he resided until joining the U.S. Air force on May 10, 1951. He served in the Air Force for 22 years, retiring July 1, 1973. During his time in the Air Force, he started as an apprentice cook, and went on to be superintendent of food services.

He married Sharon Bishop on Juny 25, 1953, at Moses Lake, Wash. They had resided at several places over the years, including Newfoundland, Thailand, Idaho, Montana and Washington with his brother Charles as a partner, he owned and operated Philips 66 gas station, which was at the north end of the Mountain...

NOTE: My Uncles obituary seems to end there...I think there was more, but I am unable to find it. I will add a bit more, below.

My Uncle Ken, Carlos met and married Sharon Bishop and they had five children, Dale, Jimmy, Keith, Steven, Carla and Amanda. The couple retired in Mtn Home, Idaho.

My earliest memories of him are at family dinners for holidays and going to a gas station he owned in our town. Camping was something we our family always enjoyed and my cousins and I spent the night at each other's houses. I was named after his wife, my Aunt Sharon.

He walked me down the isle for my first wedding in July of 1981. I remember calling him to ask and asking "What are you doing on the 11th of July" and he said "Going to your wedding" and I asked him to give me away and he said he would be glad to do that.

At the age of 59, my Uncle Ken passed away from Lung Cancer.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wants me now, He's set me free.

The Fallen Limb

A limb has fallen
from the family tree
I keep hearing a voice that says,
"Grieve not for me"
Remember the best times,
the laughter, the song
The good life I lived
while I was strong

Continue my heritage,
I'm counting on you
Keep smiling and surely
the sun will shine through
My mind is at ease,
my soul at rest
Remembering all,
how I truly was blessed

Continue traditions,
no matter how small
Go on with your life,
don't worry about falls
I miss you dearly,
so keep up your chin
Until the days comes
we're together again

God called your name so softly
That only you could hear
And no one heard the footsteps
Of Angels drawing near

The Golden Gates stood open
God saw you needed rest
His garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best
