. . . The Bulletin, Bloomington, Illinois, Thurs morning, 17 Aug 1882 . . . David Lape died at his home in Twin Grove yesterday morning. He has been a sufferer for a number of years with cancer. The deceased was an old resident of McLean. He came to this county many years ago from Somerset, PA, where he was born. He was seventy three years of age, and was the father of several children. The remains will be buried in the cemetery of Twin Grove this afternoon.


. . . The Bulletin, Bloomington, Illinois, Friday, 18 Aug 1882 . . . David Lape who died at his home in Twin Grove on Wednesday, was buried yesterday morning. Mr. Lape was seventy three years old and was one of the early settlers of this section of Illinois. His funeral was attended by a very large number of people. The remains were interred at Twin Grove Cemetery.

David was the son of John Nicholas Lape & Cadrina "Katherine" Schunck.

In 1860, David is still living in Brothers Valley, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. His daughter Sophia who married John Sherbine in 1850, had move with their family in 1859 to Dry Grove Twp., McLean County, Illinois. By 1870 David Lape (Lope in census) had moved to Dry Grove Twp., with his two sons Ephraim and Annias as well as his daughters; Eliza Alice Lape, who was in the Nathan & Rachel Sunderland hh and Catherine "Kate" Lape who was in the Samuel & Elizabeth Mitchell hh in Bloomington, Illinois, both listed as servants.


Anthony Lape (b. 1798) was most likely a cousin, unknown sibling or possibly an uncle.
