On the 1860 Census, Jefferson & Melinda had 3 children:
Susan aged 4 = 1856
William age 3 = 1857
James A. 6 months old = 1860

It appears that the Reeves are actually Alexander's children per my research as stated below.

Per Contributor Judy Banks, #48174619; Jefferson Parsons Alexander had 3 children with Melinda Reeves Alexander: Susan Elmina, William Riley and James A. After Jefferson's death, Melinda married Tyre Rickman Akins. The Alexander children were very young when they were married and Susan and William show up as Atkins on the next census. However, James A. kept the Alexander name.
