Francis (Frank) Auleta was born in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, NY to Abraham and Josephine Kreisler Auleta. He was predeceased by a younger brother of the same name, who died in 1909 of a convulsion. He had 8 siblings, another died from tenanus in 1918.
Frank's life was surrounded by a fierce love of the sea. His father had a 56 foot boat and he grew up along with his brothers and sisters on that boat. He joined the Merchant Marines and traveled the world in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
He met and married Ethel Anna McCabe on 5/1/1938 in Bedford Village, NY. Frank and Ethel shared a love for the sea. She was a nurse and he worked on boats or in boatyards his entire life. They lived in CT during their working lives, running a nursing home in Norwalk, CT.
They retired and bought a home in Florida and one in Maine, both as close to the water as possible so they could keep up their fishing, clamming and shrimping. Frank used to take us all (nieces and nephews) out on his boat and show us how to clam and fish. Many of us started our own love of the ocean through this soft spoken, kind man.
He was everyone's favorite uncle and when he died, along with 2 of his brother's in the same week in 1994, he left behind many a grieving relative.
He will be in our hearts and missed forever....
