Son of Daniel and Sarah Boatwright, husband of Rachel Davis.

"Abijah Boatwright was born in 1804 in Marion District, South Carolina. He was a farmer, and the farm is located in what is now called the Friendship Community of Marion County. He married Rachel Davis in the late 1820's and they had seven children.

He dated his will on May 9, 1878, and added a codicil on May 13, 1878. He died in July or August of 1878 and was buried in a burial ground near Catfish Creek that is no longer used. The graves were marked with wooden headboards, and his headboard was intact in 1918. His will was probated on August 5, 1878, by his son, Robert Shields Boatwright, executor.
