Born in Virginia in 1838, son of Edward Charles McDonald and Frances Elisabeth Singleton McDonald. Lived in Hannibal, Missouri before moving to Sherwood Texas where he worked as a laborer and farmer.
Obituary from Quincy,Illinois Newspaper:
Singleton MacDonald died yesterday at St. Mary's hospital as a result of a stroke of paralysis received several weeks ago. He was brought to Quincy ten days ago from his home at Sherwood, Texas.
Mr. MacDonald was a brother of Mrs. Corbyn, widow of the late Dr. Corbyn, and was a nephew of the late General James W. Singleton. He was never married, and is survived by three sisters, Miss Anna MacDonald of Washington, D.C., Millicent MacDonald of St. Louis, and Mrs. Corbyn of this city. He was about 65 years of age, and had made his home in Texas for the past 25 years.
