Funeral services for Jeral E. Barefoot, 78, of Pitts were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Pleasant View Baptist Church. Interment followed in the family plot in the church cemetery.
Rev. Jimmy Black and Rev. Phillip Garrett officiated. Pallbearers were Freddy Thompson, Ken Cranford, Mike Clack, Earl Thompson, Scotty Jones and Lanier Keene. Music was provided by Beth Watson.
Mr. Barefoot passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 in Cordele. He was born in 1932 in Cordele, the son of the late Delma C. Barefoot and Jewel Dowdy Barefoot. He was a farmer and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and the Wilcox County American Legion Post #71.
Mr. Barefoot served his country with honor in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Sutton in 2010.
Surviving him are his wife, Rudena Barefoot of Pitts; two sons, Gary Barefoot and Terry (Janet) Barefoot, all of Pitts; one brother, Loran Barefoot of Seville; one sister, Elnita Conner of Warner Robins; two grandchildren, Brooke Thompson and Leah Sutton and two great grandchildren, Haven Hollingsworth and Ava Thompson.
