Oran B. Akins, 72, of De Soto died June 27, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Akins had been a heating and cooling repairman. He was a member of Primrose Baptist Church in Bonne Terre. During World War II he served in the U. S. Navy.
Born July 31, 1926 in De Soto, he was the son of the late Oscar Bryant and Rhoda Francis (Larkin) Akins.
He survived by his wife, Mable L. (Rawson) Akins, two sons; Bryant S. (wife Suzzie) Akins of De Soto and Bruce (wife Gloria) Akins of De Soto; three daughters: Janise (husband Stephen) Bryant of Washington, W. V.; Regina (husband Lloyd) Stokes of Dubach, La.; and Louise (husband David) Terry of Bonne Terre; a brother Oscar L. (wife Joann) Akins of De Soto, a sister Clara F. Lanteigne of De Soto, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Akins of De Soto; 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Herbert Akins, and a sister Dorothy Brandon.
Funeral services were June 30 at Dietrich-Mothershead Chapel in De Soto, officiating by the Rev. Ken Vandiver.
Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Motherheads Funeral Home in De Soto.
