Arbutus Strickler

ELKTON - Arbutus H. Strickler, 78, of Rt. 2, Elkton, died at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday (April 12, 1994) at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for a week.

She was born on April 26, 1915 at McGaheysville, a daughter of Samuel P. and Florence (Sandridge) Hammer.

She graduated from McGaheysville High School and was a member of Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ and AARP. On March 16, 1934, she married William Davis Strickler, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Freddie W. and LeRoy Strickler, both of Elkton; four daughters, Tillie S. Offenbacher and Bonnie S. Haney, both of McGaheysville, Judy S. Coffman of Keezletown and Mary Alice Pauley of Churchville; two sisters, Margaretta Hammer and Lucille Hensley, both of Elkton; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Lindsey Harrsonburg Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Wright, with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McGaheysville.

The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial may be made to a favorite charity.
