HAZLEHURST - George D. Slay, 75, former owner of Thrifty Drug Store in Jackson, died of cancer Friday at his home.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Sardis Cemetery. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Slay was a 1949 graduate in pharmacy from the University of Mississippi. He owned Thrifty Drug Store in Jackson for 50 years before retiring to Hazlehurst. He was a member and deacon of Sardis Baptist Church.
Survivors include: wife, Rosemary; daughter, Kathleen Russell of Gulfport; brothers, Daniel Slay and Hullon Slay, both of Pearl; sisters, Nelle Hamm, Rose Mason, Retha Jeffreys and Carol Chesteen, all of Jackson; and three grandchildren.
