Peggy is the daughter of Darrel and Mary Nelson.

Peggy was preceded in death by her sister, Sonja Nelson on Jan. 21, 2011; maternal grandfather, J.H. Hunt of Mount Vernon, and paternal grandparents Douglas nad Gladys Nelson of Minnesota.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Nelson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; father, Darrel Nelson of Phoenix Ariz.; and maternal grandmother Isabell Hunt.

I met Peggy in 1987. Her birthday was a few weeks before mine, we were 17 years old.

She was a crew leader for the Chick-Fil-A inside Paradise Valley Mall. She was one of the people who taught me the job.

Peggy came to work ready to do her job but when we closed up at night, she would cut loose. The group from the store went many places together. Disneyland was our biggest adventure. We also, went bowling, attended parties, and even went to a friends house for a swimming party one summer night.

There are no memories of that time in life where Peggy isn't a big part. She helped me move my things when I changed apartments, she talked to me about girlfriends, and never treated me any differently than anyone else.

Peggy had a red two door car, I think it was a Nova. Only a few in our group had a car, so we relied on them for rides. Peggy never asked for gas.

As friends go, there are few who measure up to her selflessness and loyalty. I wish I had pictures to share, but I only have her high school photo she gave me and her lively memory in my mind.

If memory serves Peggy was asthmatic but smoked anyway. I don't know if I ever believed she 'loved' it. It was just something we all did.

Peggy was a great friend, confidant, and co-worker.
