Crill was the youngest of 9 children born to Joel Oscar Davis & Annie Liza Chesnut in the panhandle of Florida. She supported her country during WWII as a "Rosie the Riveter." She met and married the love of her life, Lt. Schuyler Buell 'Dod' Brandt at Tyndall AFB, FL shortly after his graduation from West Point. Together they and their daughters lived throughout the US during Dod's military career. Crill relished her life as a military officer's wife, volunteering as a Gray Lady in military hospitals and participating in charity events with the Officers' Wives' Club and the West Point Society.
Crill was an extraordinary cook and baker; she excelled in sewing, canning, and gardening. She was a strong willed, deeply religious woman whose life was profoundly marked by her love of the US military and Southern charm, hospitality, and pride. She truly lived her nickname, "Lady."
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dod, and all of her brothers and sisters (JB Davis, Dellion Davis Turner, Cecil James 'Dick' Davis, Gracie Dee Davis Lee, Jewel Davis Whitlock, Homer Newton 'Cebo' Davis, Myra Lane 'Laney' Davis, and Bonnie Civil Davis McDuffie).
Crill is survived by her 3 daughters, granddaughter, grandson, and great-granddaughter. Her cremains rest eternally with those of her beloved Dod at USMA, West Point.
