Raymond J. ``Ray'' McAllise, 70, of Canal Fulton, OH, died Friday, (April 19, 2002) at Canton Aultman Hospital.
He was born in Farrell, PA and had been a resident of Canal Fulton over 30 years.
Ray retired from Babcock & Wilcox after ten years service. Previously, he had been employed by United Technologies and Kaman Aircraft in Connecticut. He was a project engineer with the Apollo Space Program, and worked on the backup guidance system which got Apollo 13 home. A graduate of Youngstown State with an Electrical Engineering Degree, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, active with Boy Scouts and a member of Ss Philip & James Catholic Church, Canal Fulton, OH.
Ray ``believed in living life one day at a time,'' was loved and will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Anna; and infant son, Mark.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy; son, Gregg (Ann), Canton, OH; daughter, Patricia ``Tish'' McAllise Sjoberg, San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Mark and Scott McAllise, Shea Sjoberg; brothers, Joseph (Judy), California, and Richard (Cheryl), Warren, OH; sisters, Marlene (Gerald) Thomas, Girard, OH and Helen McAllise, California; stepsister, Joyce (Warren) Vens, Warren, OH.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, Rt. 93, Canal Fulton, OH, with Fr. Robert Hannon officiating. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service.
