Berniece Thomas
Berniece Thomas, 95, of Milroy, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at her home. She was born in Orange Township, Rush County, IN on June 21, 1910, the oldest of six children, to Edward and Pearl (Wagoner) Alexander. She was a member of the Gowdy Methodist Church and a graduate of Moscow High School. She attended the Indiana State Fair Girls School in 1928. On July 8, 1939, she married Robert P. Thomas and he preceded her in death on October 6, 1984. They owned and operated a farm in Anderson Township, Rush County. She was also a member of the Milroy Bridge Club for over 60 years.
Survivors include two sisters, Velma Alexander and LaRee Gordon, both of Greenfield; three nephews, Gary Alexander and wife Marcia of Manilla, Bryan Alexander of New Palestine and Mark Alexander of New York City, NY; four nieces, Mrs. Larry (Sarah) Huskins of Rushville, Mrs. Terry (Sandra) Ave of Vincennes, Mrs. Richard (Erin) Kwolek of Fort Wayne, Dotty Jean Thomas of Milroy, four great nieces and two great nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at Burns Funeral Home in Milroy on Friday, November 4, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David Williamson and Rev. Phil Mitchell officiating. Interment will be at East Hill Shrine Mausoleum in Rushville. Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2005, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Courtney Anne Huskins Memorial Scholarship Fund at Rush County Community Foundation, 117 N. Main St., Rushville, IN 46173, the Milroy United Methodist Church, Milroy, IN 46156, or Hospice of South Central Indiana (Decatur County), 2626 E. 17th St, Columbus, IN 47201.
