She was born June 18, 1916, in Sciota, the daughter of Roy Blaine and Mabel Alvida Johnson Cook. She married William E. "Bill" Hamilton June 21, 1942, in Peoria. He preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1998.
She is survived by two daughters, A. Kay (Gerry) Ekstrom, Rockford and Janice (John W.) King, Good Hope; four grandchildren; Roger R. (Carolyn) Ekstrom and Robert J. Ekstrom, Rockford, Anna M. (Aaron) Green, St. Louis, Mo., and Donna K. King, Bloomington; one brother, Dean (Phyllis) Cook, Sciota; one sister, Emma E. Cook, Macomb; one sister-in-law, Helen M. Collins, mesa, Ariz; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Roger Hamilton.
She graduated from WIU in 1937. She taught in a one-room school in Prairie City until her marriage. She then moved to Eldorado, Ill. and later to Finley, Ohio. She and her husband moved back to the Hamilton family farm in Good Hope in 1946. In 1997. they moved to Murphysboro and returned to Good Hope in 2001. She was secretary for the McDonough County Superintendent of Schools from 1969 to 1979. She was a member of the Good Hope United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Good Hope Women's Club and the Macomb Altrusa Club.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan, 10, 2005, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, Macomb, with the Rev. Betty Coffey officiating.
Burial will be in the good Hope Cemetery, Good Hope.
