He was a member of the United Methodist Church wher he had served on numerous committees and boards Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Bethel Lodge #319, Scottish Rite, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and the Elks Lodge #375.He was active in his professional organizations including the Iowa Funeral Directors Association serving as past President of District #8, Board of Govenors and the National Funeral Directors Association. In 1979 was recognized by the Iowa Funeral Directors Association with a certificate for 50 years of service as a funeral director in Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Meta M. Bohn of Garner; a daughter, Elizabeth L. Tompkins and Husband, Claire, of Garner; a son Richard G. Bohn and wife, Karen, of Dncanville, Tx; eight grandchidren, Julie Bahlmann and husband, Richard, Jay Tompkins, Steven Bohn and wife, Jacki and their son Jaackson, Alan Bohn and wife Pamela, Richard E. Bohn and wife Sue and his daughter Jeni, Michael Bohn and wife, Nancy and their chilldren, Brandon, Aaron and Karissa, Christina Chapman and husband, Todd and their children and Ted Bohn; and a special family member, Missy Bohn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alvina Hollatz; and a brother, Rudolph J. Bohn.
