ANOTHER PIONEER CITIZEN SUCCUMBS
Mrs. Margaret Thomason
, age 86, died at her home on Shaw Hill, at 4 o'clock Friday evening, after a lingering illness of about three months duration, death being due to senility and complications.

Mrs. Thomason came to Galena with her husband more than forty years ago, when Mr. Thomason engaged in mining, Mr. Thomason having passed away several years ago.

She is survived by five sons, G. B. Thomason, William Thomason and E. F. Thomason all of the city, Brad Thomason of Duenweg, Mo., and T. W. Thomason of Seattle, Wash., and three daughters, Mrs. Mary Kinyon of this city, Mrs. P. Witton of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Anna Mattis [sic: Mattix] of Commerce, Okla., and one sister, Mrs. Jane Little of this city.

Funeral services will be held from the home at Shaw Hill at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The Rev. J. J. Bay of the Twelfth street Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.

CELEBRATES EIGHTY-SECOND BIRTHDAY
Relations and friends gathered at the home of "Mother" Thomason to wish her health and happiness on her eighty-second birthday. Mrs. Thomason has lived in Galena for a good many years and has a large circle of friends. The evening was spent in games and amusements, every one having a very enjoyable time.

Those present were: Mrs. Lake, Mr. and Mrs. S. C, Butler. Mrs. Storms, Mrs. Lawrence and two daughters of Carthage, Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Thomason and family, Mrs. Stone, Mrs. Canady, Mrs. Kinyon, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mattix, Mr. and Mrs. Brad Thomason, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Thomason, Mrs. Ethel Densmore and baby, Leah Reid, Mrs. Ollie Rose of Baxter Springs and Mrs. G. W. Little of Wisconsin.

When Margaret Mays was born, Morristown was part of Grainger County. Hamblen County was not formed until 1870. Margaret was born in Morristown, Tennessee.

Margaret and David Thomason were married Mar 8, 1851 in Grainger Co., TN. To this union, 11 known children were born.
