The following obituary was shared by Find A Grave contributor Gerald "Jerry" Hobson (#46794864):

Charles R. Waychoff, Sr., 86, of Waynesburg R.D. 3, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, 1978, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had not been in the best of health for some time.

He was born December 16, 1891, in Cumberland Township, a son of the late John Leon and Lana Reeves Waychoff. With the exception of six years in the Grove City area, he had lived his entire life in the Waynesburg community.

He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War I havng served with Company K, 110th infantry. He was the oldest surviving member of Company K. He was a member of James Farrell American Legion Post 330 of Waynesburg and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 of Waynesburg.

During his early life he had been a Justice of the Peace in Franklin Township and was an automobile mechanic. He was a retired employe of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and for six years, 1956 through 1962, he and his wife had served as house parents at the Pennsylvania George Junior Republic School for Boys at Grove City.

He was twice married. His first wife, Deborah Johnson Wychoff, died February 13, 1922, surviving this marriage is a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Emily) Phillips of Waynesburg and a son, Charles R. Waychoff, Jr., of Mars, Pennsylvania.

His second wife, Pearl Watters Waychoff, whom he married November 8, 1923, survives. Surviving this marriage are three daughters, and four sons, twenty-nine grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and ten step-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Anna Day of Prosperity and a brother John B. Waychoff of Titusville, survive.

His step-mother, Winnie Bruce Waychoff, five brothers and four sisters are deceased.
