Frank P. Shannon, 78, 124 11th St., Silvis, died last night in the Happy Haven Rest Home in Silvis.

Services will be at 11:30 Monday morning in Schroder Mortuary, Silvis with Rev. David E. Lofdahl of Silvis United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 tomorrow afternoon. Dreier - Whitney Post, VFW, of Silvis will accord military honors at the graveside.

Mr. Shannon was born in Cable. He married Ann Leddy, April 16, 1929, in Hoboken, N.J. She preceded him in death in 1949.

A veteran of World War I, he had operated his own insurance and real estate business prior to retirement. He had also served many years as city clerk in Silvis, as secretary of Silvis Eagles Lodge and was past commander of the Dreier-Whitney VFW Post. Shannon also was a former district 8 commander of the Illinois VFW and held offices in the Rock Island County Barracks.

One son also preceded him in death. There are no immediate survivors.
