US Congressman. He attended Bardstown College, studied medicine, graduated from Jefferson Medical College and opened a medical practice in Columbia, Kentucky. During the War of 1812, he served as assistant surgeon and after the war, he was a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives, (1815-18). In 1829, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-first and Twenty-second Congresses, serving until 1833. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was again a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives, (1855-57) and resumed the practice of medicine until his death at age 73.
