By Carlyse Bliss c.?
I do not mind that we are growing old
As long as you are near; I am not weak,
You warm my heart against the creeping cold;
Anticipate my needs; you touch my cheek
Reminding me of years when we were young,
And met Life's crises with a guarded grace;
Our constant love is like a song unsung
As we go down Life's hill with prudent pace.
You are forever sweet, and close, and dear;
I shed no tears for youth so lately flown,
And if, sometimes, you think you see a tear,
It is for all the happiness we've known.
Our loving hearts hold memories of gold;
I do not mind that we are growing old.
