Rev. Capt. Ralph Antonucci was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Pasquale Antonucci of Lovejoy Street in Buffalo, New York. He attended public schools in Buffalo and completed his studies for the priesthood at Niagara University and St. Bonaventure University Seminary. He was ordained by Bishop Duffy on June 3, 1939. He served as assistant pastor of Holy Cross Church and Our Lady of Loretto Church in Buffalo before entering the military service in May 1943.
He served in the Army Chaplains Corps and was severely wounded on May 2, 1945 while serving with the 196th Field Artillery Group on the Western Front. This was only a few days before the close of World War II.
