Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island and 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoch Funeral Home Chapel in Ainsworth. The Rev. Daniel Bremer will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Ainsworth East Park Cemetery.
Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter and son-in-law, Lila Kay and Andrew D. Gudgel of Grand Island; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Turner of Perris, Calif.
Those also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, Neva and husband, Tyron Locket, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Brian Gudgel of Grand Island, Matt and his wife, Sandy Gudgel, of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Isabel, Lily, Jack, MacKenna, and Cameron Gudgel; a sister-in-law, Marge Schrantz of Casper, Wyo.; brother-in-law and wife, Glen and Vera Schrantz of Springview; a brother-in-law and wife, Rex and Joan Schrantz of Greer, S.C.; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Helen, the youngest of nine children was born Aug. 27, 1925, at home near Norden in Keya Paya County to Lawrence and Hattie (Egelhoff) Turner. She was baptized into the Christian faith on May 3, 1955. Helen attended elementary school at Happy Hollow and Norden schools. On Aug. 25, 1957, she was united in marriage to James Elden Schrantz in Ainsworth. Elden and Helen lived on a ranch southwest of Springview until 1979 when they sold the ranch and moved to Ainsworth. After the death of her husband she moved to Grand Island, residing at Bickford Cottage Assisted Living. The last three weeks of her life were spent at the Good Samaritan Society in Wood River.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Elden, parents, and all of her siblings, Agnes Owens, Raymond Turner, Roy Turner, Arlo Turner, Rosa Grooms, Stella Mae Turner, Ruby Mathiesen and Calvin Turner.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family.
