Mrs. Hattie May Howe, 72, a resident of Leroy, died at Porter Memorial hospital Sunday after an extended illness. The decedent was born in Lafayette, Nov. 28, 1880. She was married Aug. 11, 1897, to William Howe, who preceded her in death in 1938. Born to this union were 16 children, four preceding the decedent in death. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Emma Cheevers, Wheatfield; Mrs. Fern
Whelan, Chicago; Mrs. Mabel Hanson, New Albany, Ind.; nine sons, Isaac, Joe, Quincy, Thomas, and Wilbur, all of LeRoy; Frank, Ernest, and Paul, of Valparaiso; and Jay of Chesterton. Also 38 grandchildren survive and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Phillips Funeral home, Hebron, with the Rev. W. Ray Kuhn, Hebron Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Hebron cemetery. Friends may call from 7 p.m. tonight until time of services.
