OBITUARY - Atlanta Constitution - 13 Feb 1885
Marietta, GA Feb 12 - [Special] - Mr. Joseph Wallace died suddenly this morning of what is supposed to be heart disease. He had been unwell for some time, but feeling better this morning he got out of bed about half past eight and commenced to dress himself when he fell over dead. He is a son of H. B. Wallace, one of the oldest citizens of this place. He leaves a wife and two small children. Some claim that an inquest should be held, but as yet Coroner Root has not held one.

Died - Mr. Joseph Wallace died at his home at this place on last Thursday morning. He had been complaining a day or two, but no one thought that his illness was anything serious and when the intelligence of his death was publicly announced it carried surprise to everyone. He was the son of Mr. H. B. Wallace, of this place, and leaves a wife and three boys. His funeral sermon was preached by Rev. J. H. Baxter, the service being a [sic] very solemn and affecting. The remains of the deceased were interred at the city cemetery last Saturday afternoon. To the grief stricken family we extend our sympathy.
