OBITUARY
MRS. MARY SWAN
Early Monday morning occurred the death of Mrs. Mary Swan, relict of the late Deacon Alonzo Swan, aged 73 years. Mrs. Swan had a for long time been in poor health and her recent injury proved such a shock as to render her recovery impossible. William Bainbridge, a brother of the deceased and his daughter were present at the time of her death. The funeral services were held from the late residence yesterday afternoon. The sermon was preached by Rev. Mr. Gross of West Somerset, a nephew of the deceased. Rev. Samuel Newland of Seneca Falls read a chapter from the bible. Rev. W. D. Woodruff offered prayer and Rev. L. Bailey of Geneva, made some appropriate remarks. The remains were taken to Romulus this forenoon on the Lehigh road and interment made in the family plot at that place.

According to the inventory of the administrators, the late Mary Swan left personal property to the value of about $2,500. The decedent left no will hence the property will be distributed among a large number of heirs. The homestead, which is part of the estate of the late Alonzo Swan and in which the widow had only a life lease, will pass into the hands of the executor of the former estate. The late Mr. Swan made several bequests to Baptist societies but it is thought that the will not being properly drawn was defective so far as it related to these bequests and that the residue of this estate will fall to Frank Stewart of Schenectady, a grandson of the decedent.
