Death: Feb. 22, 1956

Ellis and Minnie lived south of Martinsville when first married. Ellis farmed during the summers. His mother lived at Kansas Station (between Kansas and Westfield) and in the fall he would take his team and haul gravel for the hard road that was being built. As long as the weather was so he could he would come home over the weekends. Sometimes one of the girls would go with him and help Grandma with the work. They did live at Kansas Station for a short time, then moved back south of Martinsville near Neadmore and close to where the Shilo Church used to be located (a couple of houses north). Ellis farmed here, too. Ellis, Minnie and family moved to Casey in 1916 across from the Monroe School, where Opal Douglas lives now (1984). With two sets of twins three years apart the family life was very hectic and the older girls were working out as much as possible. Minnie was in bed for eight weeks with flamatory rheumatism and Stella and Cecil worked out at a restaurant and would come home and have to do the housework and take care of the babies. Many was the time that they fell asleep while trying to bottle the twins. They later moved to where the Nazarene Church in Casey now stands. Isaac Ellis Ratts died February 22, 1956 in Vigo Co, Indiana and is buried at the Casey Washington Street Cemetery.
Minnie Jane Spivey Ratts married Frank Tague on April 16, 1933 or 1934 in Clark Co. They had no children.
Minnie Jane died February 11, 1971 in Vigo Co, Indiana and is buried at the Casey Washington Street Cemetery.
