MORTON - Clifford B. "Ben" Pasley, 79, of Morton died at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Morton Terrace Care Center.

Born in Pacific, Mo., on May 24, 1931, to Clifford G. and Opal Pearl (Sieg) Pasley, he married Barbara A. Rymer Winnicki on Feb. 3, 1968, in Urbana, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are five children, sons, Michael (Joyce) of Danville, Ill., and David (Karen) Pasley of Mahomet, Ill., daughters, Cindy Duncan of Urbana, Vickie (Keven) Brinton of Springfield, Ill., and stepson, Lenard (Cheryl) Winnicki of Herscher, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Regina (Larry) Mott of Cedarville, Ind., Michael B. Pasley of Danville, Alicia Pasley of Tilton, Ill., Taleena Wright of Tolono, Ill., Talon Wright of Urbana, Shawn (Renee) Pasley of Mahomet, Travis and Robert Winnicki of Herscher and Rebekah Brinton of Springfield; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Renalda Fitton of Morton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Samuel; one sister, Ruth Hicks; and one grandchild, Michelle.

Clifford served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and received an honorable discharge on March 1, 1954.

He worked for various newspapers as a pressman in Del Ray Beach, Fla., Champaign, Ill., Colorado Springs, Colo., retiring from the Peoria Journal Star in 1988.

He and his wife also operated a gift and antique store for several years in Washington and Metamora.

He enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking. In addition, he was an avid golfer and an exceptional dancer. Although an all around sports fan, he was a die-hard Chicago Bears, Bulls, and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Clifford was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings. He also was a member of the Morton American Legion, Post No. 318, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 568.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Morton. Visitation will be held Sunday at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton from 6 to 8 p.m. and also on Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Additional visitation also will be held on Tuesday, March 22, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in LaPorte, Ind., from noon to 1 p.m. followed by a graveside committal services at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, where military rites will be conducted.

Memorials may be made to Manteno Illinois Veterans Home, Korean Memorial Fund, 1 Veterans Drive, Manteno, IL 60950-9466.
