Charlie's maternal grandparents were William and Patience Powers Bearden, his mother was their daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bearden.
In the early 1900's, he was a minister of the First Christian Church (Church of Christ), in Flat Creek. The church was well known for the number of preachers from that church, and for the number of churches those preachers started.
About 1870, some Beardens and others from the Flat Creek area, left Tennessee and settled in Tarrant County, Texas, between Dallas and Ft. Worth. They named their community Bedford, after their beloved Bedford County, in Tennessee.
Later, Charlie Crowe and others went to Texas as well.
Charlie was a minister in Wise County, Donely, Fannin, and Red River for the First Christian Churches, which may have also been called Church of Christ. These people had a mission to spread the word in unsettled lands and also to the Indian nation, and were supported by the churches in Bedford County, His brothers, Henry Clay (one of several by that name) and James Monroe Bearden went to Texas as well. Today there are many Beardens in Texas who are decended from these early pioneers.
There he married Ella Dora(Doris) Valentine, Sept. 5, 1878.
In 1904, he was a minister in Clarendon, Texas. By 1910 census, they had 3 sons, William McKinley (Mack), Charles Curtis, and Thomas H. At the time of his death, he lived in Dallas. There were also two children who did not survive.
He was buried in the Bedford Cemetery, Bedford Texas, Tarrant Co., Texas. At the time of his death, he had been retired about 10 years. He was 80 years, 3 months, 10 days at his death.

Note: He may also be listed as C.C. Bearden and Charles Bearden, quite possibly Crow may be a nickname.
