Calmly and peacefully as in a sleep, Mrs. L. P. White, passed to her reward Wednesday afternoon while visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. A. A. White of St. Paul.
Her life had been eventful and covered most interesting periods in the history of Brainerd. With her husband, L. P. White, she came to Brainerd in the first days of the town. Mr. White built the first house in 1870 and his wife was the first white woman in Brainerd. As agent of the Lake Superior & Puget Sound Land Company he was identified with the launching of Brainerd as a townsite and its subsequent development.
Mr. White died about 12 years ago. Mrs. White made her home in Brainerd and would frequently visit her sister in St. Paul and daughter, Mrs. H. H. Barber, at her home in Minneapolis. Mrs. White had two step-children, A. A. White of St. Paul and W. H. White, of Fargo, N. D. She was born in Rutland, Vermont and was about 75 years old.
Of a sweet disposition, making friends readily, she numbered her friends by the score. She was a devoted church attendant. The remains will be sent to Brainerd on the afternoon train Friday and the funeral services will be held shortly thereafter from St. Paul's Episcopal church, Rev. Caleb Benham officiating.
