WILLIAM PATTERSON

William Patterson, son of Adam and Jennie Patterson, was born April 23, 1888, in Excelsior, Mahaska county, Iowa, and passed away after a lengthy illness Sept. 15, 1961, at the Yocom hospital, Chariton, at the age of 73 years, four months and 22 days.

He was united in marriage to Thomason Ina Robinson at Hocking, Iowa, August 24, 1918. To this union were born two sons and five daughters.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Dollie, two sons, Adam of Westminster, Colo., and William of the Pacific Fleet, U.S. Navy; five daughters, Jennie Thrasher, Des Moines, Jessie Patterson, Denver, Colo., Margaret King, Kaanursco, Turkey, Dollie Mae Bahr, Lucas, Shirley Wilson of Chariton; one granddaughter, Sherie Wilson; six grandsons, Jim and Alvin Thrasher, Bobby, John, Mark Brian and Adam Bahr, and a host of friends.

His mother, father and five sisters preceded him in death, leaving one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Stevenson of Albia, and four brothers, Jock of Webster City, James of Chariton, Bob of Albia and George of Des Moines.

He was employed as a coal miner for 38 years at Hocking and Williamson. He served in World War I. He moved to Chariton in 1929. He accepted Christ and confessed Him as his Savior before his death.

Funeral services were held Sept. 17, at the Downs Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bauserman officiating. Burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
