Note: Margie Bacus Hall: William Herman Baccus married Erma Marlman. To their union was born one son, Herman Elmer Baccus. Herman owned and operated a roofing and siding company in Herrin, ILL. The story is told that the night the old homeplace burned, Herman was at a very high spot in Southern Illinois where you see afar, he looked across country and could very clearly see the fire. Grandpa Baccus died 12/27/1942, the homeplace burned a week later. We stayed with Herman & Erma during the 1937 flood. After retirement he moved to Reelfoot Lake, Tenn. where he could relax and fish. He and his wife, Jewell, lived there until his death 9/27/1972. He is buried in Maplelawn Cem. in Marion, Ill. Herman and Erma divorced in 1938. He married Mary Jewell Gurley 9/25/1938. She was born 9/14/1916 in Marion, Ill. When Herman died, Jewell married Lee Eddleman.
