Teresa Lucyle Cooper, 82 years old, died Sunday, February 25, 2001 in Brownsville. She was born in Spartenburg, South Carolina, September 4, 1918 and moved to Brownsville, when she was 12 along with her 4 sisters and 1 brother and her parents William Edward and Teresa Collins.

Lucyle married John Benson Cooper, State Health Inspector, March 17, 1947, and the marriage produced 2 children.

Lucyle was active in the PTA at Russell Elementary and was PE teacher there for 6 years. She was very active with the city Recreation Dept. and active in the First Baptist Church, where she attended and worked in the Nursery Dept. for many years.

She is survived by her son, Edward Benson Cooper of Houston, her daughter Frances Cowen and her husband, Philip Cowen and their daughter, Amy.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the funeral service to begin at 2 p.m. and burial is to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
