Tombstone recorded in the 1930s by the DAR (See "Genealogical Research Louisiana", 1931, Page 28). Only the name was given. A notation stated "shaft broken". In 1991 when the SCV indexed the cemetery, the headstone could not be found. The 1931 index showed her entry between Ann Mary Morgan Kellam (Granddaughter) and Narcissa Deson Morgan (Daughter).

This may be the grave of Rachael Wicker Deason Tennille, the wife of Revolutionary War soldier Benjamin Tennille. She died January 14, 1816 in Ouachita Parish according to the Benjamin Tennille Bible.

Rachael Wicker was born circa 1767 in Hillsboro Dist., Chatham Co., NC. to Robert Hester Wicker and Hannah Simmons Holley. She married first Vincent Deeson.

Children of Vincent and Rachel Deeson: William Vinn, Patty and Narcissa Deeson.

She married secondly Benjamin Tennille in 1789 Washington Co., GA.

Children of Benjamin & Rachael Tennille: Mira St. John, Jane St. Claire, Nancy, Margaret St. Claire, Rachael St. Julien, Hannah Simmons, Benjamin Sydney, Elizabeth, Melinda, Robert Francis and Madison Hall Tennille. All of the children were born in Washington Co., GA except Madison Hall, who was born in Ouachita Parish, LA.

She married thirdly Parker Doss/Voss circa 1815. They had no children.

For further information on the Tennille family, see "Washington To Ouachita: A Georgia-Louisiana Link" by William C. Hines in the July, 1978 issue of the Northeast Louisiana Genealogical Society Quarterly, beginning on page 83 . Records in the Bry family archives show that Isaac Henry Bry (who married Rachel and Benjamin's daughter Nancy) bought his in-laws headstones but they seem to have become lost over the years. Benjamin has a new stone placed by the DAR for the Bicentennial but Rachel doesn't have a marker.
