1946 Obituary:
Mishap Takes Worker's Life
Garfield--Funeral services were pending Tuesday for Robert Hans Andersen, 58, 752 Post street, who was killed Monday afternoon at the Garfield plant of the American Smelting & Refining company.

Mr Andersen, an electrician with the company for the past 25 years, was crushed between a crane and a steel girder while workig in the copper converter furnace aisle. The accident occurred on the third floor when the crane moved and pinned him against a girder.

C W Spence, state metal mine inspector, said death was almost instantaneous. An investigation is to be conducted by the state.

Mr Andersen, a native of Utah, is survived by his widow, Mrs Anna E Andersen; a son, Lloyd Andersen, Oakland, Cal.; a daughter, Mrs Donald Peterson, Oakland; four brothers, Arnold, Theodore, Louis C and Gordon H Andersen, and four sisters, Miss Helen J Andersen, Mrs Ralph Goodell, Mrs Bert Sainsbury and Mrs Frank Fornham, all of the Salt Lake City.

Funeral plans wait the arrival of his son and daughter from Oakland.
