Obituary
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Bertha Boudreaux Leger, age 94, the former Bertha Kilchrist, who passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 3:41 p.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. The Rev. Gregory Cormier, great nephew and pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin will officiate at the services. Readers will be Gerald Janice and Kristi Carriere. Gift bearers will be her daughters, Brunella Carriere and Raetta Roger.

Musical selections will be provided by Kenneth Janice. The songs will be Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, and The Old Rugged Cross.

She was a native of Carencro and resident of Sunset for most of her life. Mrs. Leger was a self employed seamstress for over 32 years and was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau.

Survivors include two daughters; Brunella Carriere of Carencro, and Raetta "Sis" Roger and her husband H. J. of Thibodaux; four grandchildren, Terry Carriere and his wife Kim, Duane Carriere and wife Kristi, Angelique Roger, and Monique Velez and her husband Charles; seven great, grandchildren, Joshua Carriere, Brittni Carriere, Jennifer Carriere, Kristen Carriere, Derek Carriere, Nicholas Velez, and Brandon Velez; and seven great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Boudreaux and by her second husband, Felicien "Blue" Leger; her parents, Onezime Kilchrist, and the former Andrea Brasseaux, both natives of Carencro; seven brothers and seven sisters.

Pallbearers will be Duane Carriere, Terry Carriere, J. B. Boudreaux, Jim Boudreaux, Derek Carriere, and J. Roy Cormier. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph "Bay" Hebert and Gerald Janise.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue was in charge of arrangements.
