Army veteran in World War II and Korea. Fought in the Battle of the Bulge; received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars in Korea. Discharged as a major in 1964.

Survived by his wife, Elizabeth J (Schoembs); children, Gerald, Christina, Denise, Michael and Stephen; grandchildren, Cynthia, Richard, Kirstin, Matthew and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Alexander and David; sisters, Mary and Katherine.
Services were held at Beers & Story Funeral Home, Belchertown, MA on Wednesday, 29 December 2010.
