Daughter of Lucretia Swift Lovering and John Lovering, a chandler of Boston. Granddaughter of Ann Foster Swift and Samuel Swift , Esq. Descendant of Hopestill Foster, one of the first settlers of Dorchester. Married the much older Capt Samuel Helms of Newport RI in 1817 and sailed with him to the West Indies, where they lost their first child, Frederick Lovering Helms.Lived with him as pioneers in Blakely, Alabama, and in the port of Waldoboro Maine before returning to Boston.All but two of her children predeceased her.
