Parents: William Callahan and Nancy Wright

The Rev. George A. Callahan, 87, for many years a local Methodist preacher of the Wytheville district, died in a Wytheville hospital Friday morning, February 18, (1955). He resided near Wytheville
The Rev. Mr. Callahan's wife, who survives, is the former Miss Mollie Delp, of Comers Rock, a daughter of the late Levi and Betsy Poole Delp. A daughter, who died many years ago, was the first wife of the late Rev. L. M. Burris of the Holston Conference, who was born and reared in Grayson county.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. F. B. Kitts, Wytheville; six sons, Ernest J. Callahan, Holston, Va.; William I. Callahan, Asheville, N.C.; John B. Callahan, of Crockett, and Claude M. Callahan, George S. (should be G.) Callahan and Raymond C. Callahan, all of Wytheville; one brother, F. M. Callahan; Wytheville; one sister, Mrs. John Nelson, Wytheville; 26 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Mountain View Methodist church near Wytheville on the Mt. Pleasant circuit, Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The body remained at Porterfield's in Wytheville until an hour before the services, and burial was in the church cemetery.
