Maye Pharr, 92, died Nov. 1, 2006 at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born Jan. 25, 1914, in Prentiss County to Oliver Nicolas Barron and Minnie Sanders Barron. She was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ. She married Vardeman Pharr on Sept. 26, 1931. She and her husband owned and operated the Marietta Cafe, a fabric shop and a laundromat. They also founded the senior citizens center in Marietta, where they went every day. She was a supervisor for Brown Shoe Manufacturing for 21 years. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking, shopping, and her family and friends.
Services were Nov. 3 at the Marietta Church of Christ with burial in Zion Rest Cemetery.
Survivors include four sons, Harold Dean Pharr (Billie), Milton Pharr (Vonciel), Gene Pharr (Shirley) and Rickey Pharr (Tammy), all of Marietta; one daughter, Jane Cole of Booneville; one sister, Virginia Jared of Medon, Tenn.; special family, Judy Ramey, Myrtle Estes and Ruby Helton; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vardeman, on Dec. 6, 1996; a daughter, JoAnn Shearon; two sons, Hershel Pharr and Jimmy Vaughn Pharr; her parents; and a sister, Myrtie Woods.
